The only water that goes into there is in spray and droplet form, which is harmless. If you get solid water onto the filter you're an idiot for driving through a puddle that deep.

: untill i see some pics, theres no way i believe that **** fits without having to cut away a portion of the body... i've looked for hours... and theres no possible way a big metal tube will fit anywhere through to the front without having to cut.

Anyone else notice that they "recommend" installing TII secondaries in an NA if you buy their CAI? Sounds like they don't know what the hell they're doing...
The "reccomended" part is because they had different effects with the CAI on different cars. Using a wideband O2, they ran a couple different years of cars down the road with intake and found that some ended up leaning out near redline because they didnt have enough fuel.
You could either put in larger injectors to help this....OR you could get an APEX AFC and richen up the top end. Basically its reccomended just in case you happen to have a car that has this issue. Hope that clears up some stuff

On a related note, im going to be building a velocity stack type intake for turbo 2 cars with either the stock turbo or turbonetics upgrade. It will have a 4" filter connected to a cold air snorkel, then reduced down to 3" piping (via a smooth metal transition), then will have a silicone adapter to connect the 3" piping to the turbo inlet. The only downside is that it not designed for the stock airflow meters as of right now. Basically i wanted to design something that outflows any other T2 intake AND has cold air capabilities. And yes im thinking of making a 2 piece carbon fiber version (and yes ive made carbon fiber parts). Just thought id throw this out and see if anyone is interested in something like that. The metal version would probably be around 300 dollars (sorry, but ive priced it out and its EXPENSIVE to make), carbon wouldnt be too much more.

First of all your friends neon is a ****-on engine. Second I am about 995 sure that all those that have some intelligence have the smarts to NOT drive into 8 inches of water and kill their engine.

I think that everyone should lay off CP a bit for recommending the secondaries. Not to say that you DO need them, but either way they saw something that we did not (testing). Also...if they're crazy then Jackson racing must be out of their minds...taken a look at what you need for their Miata CAI lately?

Both my friend and I had problems with parts of the AEM bypass valve breaking and being sucked into our engines (honduhs). For the turbo guys if you suck in water it should just get vaporized or something by the compressor.
Eh.. make a cold air box with a bottom extension that goes through the floor to the inside of the fender or some ****. That way you can drive through all the water you want and just have wet feet. The box would keep the filter (accual intake sorce) out of the water, but the extension would supply colder air at higher speeds. Bingo, go to Home Depot and get you some ******* ****, maybe some fiberglass or aluminum sheets what the **** ever spend 50 bucks at the max. Done. 200 bucks for a ******* tube and filter is so rediculous its not funny.
And an N/A with TII secondaries is the biggest waste of time i ever seen. Damn N/As run like 10:1 - 11:1 A/F ratios stock, a damn stupid ricer cone isnt going to make it "lean out" at higher RPMs. The damn AFM is there to adjust such adjustments in air anywho until it reaches its limits and im ******* SURE a stupid cone isnt going to add like 60HP in order to make such a senario possible. Nuff said, im out.

It sounds alot more to me like they're simply trying to exaggerate the effect of their product, which is probably good for 5-10hp anyway. It looks like a very good product, but it is over-priced and accompanied by dodgy info.
I just picked up an Apexi intake for 99 bucks from Rx7store.net I think Options Auto Salon is selling it for 95. The unit is great. Top quality funnel, fantastic sound at wide open throttle. There's no way that thing is worth even close to $250.
Yes I rather enjoy that apexi intake. comes with the adaptor for the airpump and custom brackets to make it look like it's meant to be there. I think i'll pick one of these up and make a cold air box for it

The Apex is a dry filter (actually I'm not exactly sure what to do for cleaning it yet) I can figure that out down the road.
In my experience all the instructions were in Japanese, so you're going to have to go by the pics. It's not that hard though. There's a bracket you'll need off the bottom of your airbox that's easy to overlook. Keep that in mind if you go this route.
The other thing was the one bracket was a bitch to get mated up. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I had to change the angle of it a tad via a hammer. Got it to work out fine though in the end. Pretty painless overall. Oh, and they supply you with a hose to connect to the air pump, I had to trim about two inches off it or it buckled. You can always cut more off, but you can't add more, so measure twice cut once!

Strange, price must have gone up in the last week. I only paid 99 for it. Tell em you want it for 99. Try to get it shipped USPS, you may be spared the duty. I told them to but they shipped UPS anyway. Cost me 50 Cdn at the door when little man in brown suit arrived.

The N/A runs way rich up in the higher RPM range, so unless that intake is magically adding 40 HP, TII secondaries are a waste of money and WILL cause a power LOSS.
In fact, gains can be had by using an S-AFC to LEAN OUT the upper RPM range even on modded cars.
