OR fc3c motor mounts

Hey I just got the mazda comp mounts to take out some of the motor rock in the first couple gears in low rpms. I have the bolts removed from the old mounts (I assume the stock ones). So, I first gently tried jacking the motor up, jack and plywood. But the whole thing lifted, so before I crushed anything I thought I should stop and ask. Am I missing anything? is there a third mount some where that would stop me from picking up the motor to swap? Do I just need to give the old mounts a little love tap? stop being a sissy about picking up the motor and keep raising the jack?
Cherry picker isn't an option - I just don't have one.
Let me know

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Or do I just need to unbolt the motor mount brackets as well?

I changed mine years ago by just lifting the engine carefully.

Yeah I went back in last night and started playing with it some more. got testy and just started lifting the motor. she came up. I couldn't get the passenger side motor mount out though. Jack maxed out and the mount got wedged. Do you think taking off the mounting bracket too will help? shucks looking at it I don't see the harm in it

Yes removing or loosen the brackets will make it easier to get mounts out

Finished it before dinner yesterday. I had to remove the bracket to get the passenger side out and replaced.
after inspection I realized that the little bumps needed lined up with the slots. so I had to loosen the mounts and raise the motor again to turn them correctly.

Thanks everyone!
