FC vs. FD???

Ok, this is definatly going to be my stupidest post to date. A close friend of mine just bought a 95' R2. It has an aftermarket filter and it looks like a muffler was welded on right at the end of the exhaust. What am i going to need to at least keep up? I am hopefully in the last 2 days of my turbo swap in my 88 GXL. I put in a S5 TII motor, 3" exhaust, Cone filter intake, bov, mbc walboro fp and a microtech lt-8. I'm fully aware it wont even compare to his fd yet but what do i need to make that happen? I'm thinking about the BNR stage 4 turbo, FMIC, 720 primary and 850 secondaries. And when that blows up i'll get a large street port. Should that work? Thanks for any input.

If alls the FD has is an intake and a muffler (worthless pretty much) I dont see why you wouldnt be able to keep up in your FC with the mods listed.

You probably need some more fuel(bigger injectors) and an upgraded turbo... then you'll take him FOR SURE.

Seriously, with the mods you listed I highly doubt you will have problems pulling off a 13 second run.

I dont have the upgraded turbo, fmic, or the bigger injectors yet. So with just the other stuff i should be that quick? God damn i'm excited to get this thing on the road again. Oh yea, i have a 14lb flywheel and 6 puck clutch. Hope that should help with the launching and keeping ahead.

You dont think a S5 turbo with a full 3" exhaust, TID, walbro, and standalone EMS can hang with a stock FD?

No, I'm talking about the guy who said 13's in an NA is no problem...

Stock FD's put down about 220 - 225 hp to the wheels on a DynoJet.
An FC turbo with full exhaust, intake, and enough fuel will do about the same.

It all depends on how the car is set up, if the fd only has the intake and catback, it can run 13s with the stock cat. I dont think TII can do that with the stock cats. My TII with a full exhaust and few other things ran a 13.8 at 102 with a 2.0 60ft, my fd with a full exhaust ran a 13.2 at 108, with a horrible 60 ft, it was my first and only time in the fd, but the time in my fc was pretty much the best i did before i sold it. The only difference was the TII was only running 10 psi, i think the fd was running about 12 psi with the power fc. Dont race the fd on the freeway, it might want to make you buy a fd.

If the FD hasn't had a good and thorough tune-up in a while I'll bet it runs about mid 14 at sea level. However if it has been maintenced ect...it'll probably be at 14 flat. I personaly think you'd be him from a launch.

The FD in question has a muffler welded onto the stock exhuast and an air filter. These are hardly hardcore peformance modifications.

Racing from a roll is retarded.

Now that I think about it so is bench racing. It should be a close run, that's about all anyone can say.

Tell the FD guy he needs a downpipe too. Then when he blows his motor the race will be in the bag!

You should be fine. But who cares? Just build the car you want, and enjoy it. You shouldn't be racing your friend on the highway anyhow.

i think he meant hittin 13's in a t2 wouldnt b a problem with the mods listed ... he was simply using the 15 second N/A as an example.
