The two hooks are mounted to the frame rails. Judging by how thin the material is, and how poorly it is joined, I doubt there is much structure created by the spare wheel well. Why do you want to cut it out?

Cheers Aaron.

Reason for removal is to create room for part of the exhaust system; ground clearance and noise issues means extra room would be useful, and the wheel well is totally useless!

You can get rid of it no problem. A flat piece of metal at the level of the floor would probably be better for chassis stiffness anyway. Not much stress in that area until you back it into the wall!

John- How thick (or thin) metal you think I should weld in there?
Koyoshi- I cant imagine the wheel well weighs more than a few lbs, its very soft metal, thats for sure. What ill be replacing it with will be far heavier!
Demon- I saw that a while ago, pretty cool, but getting a jack under the rear is easy anyhow, its the front thats always the problem!

if you think about it your not just going to be removing the metal, but also the spare tire and all the assecesories that go with it which is a bit of weight

Mine is gone, I cut it out to fit the rear undertray for my Mariah kit. I had a think peice of aluminum rivited there, but took it off to see if I could fit my bottle in there.

I keep my premix oil and coolant in there, it's handy, especially since I've had premix jugs leak...
