to activate it you have to close the lock manually and when close the door while holding the handle up. You'll hear a "beep" when putting down the lock.
As for desactivating it, you have to open the driver side with the key.

all righty, i hate that damn alarm. i am not going to tell you how to disarm it, cause i dont know, BUT this is what you can do to avoid it from going off (at least it works in my car)
it only arms when:
a-both doors are locked
b-drivers door unlocked and passenger door is locked
be careful, it can go off when you are just sitting in your car and have the driver door unlokced, and not the passenger's, THEN go to get out of the car cause you forget something. (basically letter B, but it doesnt matter if you are in the car or outside it)
i dont know what to say, just make sure that your doors are either both locked or both unlocked, and you will be fine.

If you have your windows down, and you unlock it from the outside/inside without a key.. it will go off. It's called an alarm...
Um, you don't have to unhook the battery line. Like any alarm without the keyring buttons, put your 'key' in the door, turn it... and it shuts off.
There is ways of controlling it, above. Just because it doesn't have an alarm, doesn't mean you can't turn it off. Why would Mazda put an alarm system on a car, if you can't turn it off?

lol.. my mom and I went for dinner one not. I got out and locked the door before she even got out of the car. Went to unlock the passanger door, opened up, and the alarm went off. I never knew it would do that... but we learned the hard way.
It was quite funny actually, people next to us, jumped.. fast....

Haven't we ALL heard this
The factory alarm isn't that bad I supose. If somebody breaks into your car and unlocks it like that there is a starter cut. Try to start your car with it blaring. It shouldn't start at all.
Also it is good for decreasing your insurance preiums.
