Hi, my name is Michael and I drive an 86' RX7 with a JDM S4 TII motor. This is my first post so please do let me know if I had titled this thread incorrectly. I am making this post to help anyone who maybe struggling with the same problem that I had.
I recently did the rats nest and OMP delete to my FC and followed a really helpful diagram that has been on various threads. This is the diagram that I followed.
Now, After following this diagram upon starting the motor would crank but wouldn't start. I checked to see if I maybe flooded the motor but there was no fuel on the spark plugs. So I then checked the fuel pump and it was functioning as it should. So, I spend about a week scratching my head and calling a friend for a second opinion. After looking at all the possible problems the car still wouldn't start...this inevitably led to more head-scratching. We then noticed that my FPR was actually on the primary rail instead of the secondary rail which my friend noted was "interesting."
I know it looks like a mess right now and yes, I am replacing that gasket but, you can see that my FPR is on the primary rail.
After seeing that I pulled the fuel lines on the secondary rail and saw no fuel, then started pulling lines until I made it to the fuel delivery line that goes to the primary injectors. Once I pulled that a bunch of fuel shot out and I said to myself "Well that isn't right.''
I then decided to flip the lines because I was running out of ideas and long behold the motor fired up right away.
This is a diagram of how my fuel lines are now routed.
Believe me, I am just as confused as you are. My fuel lines essentially run backwards. Once the car is back on the road I will provide an update on how the car drives and if there are any fuel-related problems.
None of this is correct. That little round thing on your primary rail is a fuel pulsation dampener. Fuel comes into your primary rail (the short one) from the fuel filter and that pulsation dampener smooths out the fuel delivery. The fuel pressure regulator is on the back of the secondary rail. It regulates fuel pressure and dumps the excess fuel into the return line to the tank which is a low pressure line. Don't try to run the fuel backwards. You run the risk of seriously harming yourself.
