FC Questions

My friend has a 1990 FC (main car) and a 1988 turbo 2 (donor car), we want to know what and what not to swap from the 1988 to the 1990 car considering the 1988 has been wrecked and abandoned in his back yard, we at least want the engine and turbo on the 1990. Any detailed information or its completely swappable as if parts on both cars could be used.

Id sell the 88 for as much as possible and use the cash to source S5 Turbo 2 parts, and then begin your swap.

It depends on the condition of the T2 parts. If they're undamaged and usable, go for it. People do na/TII swaps all the time and there are quite a few writeups on it. Have you done anything of this caliber or consider yourself able to? If you can, you would probably know if the parts are usable or not. And if you're not able to, ^^ sell it and pay someone else to.

Exactly as he said.

Do not swap anything from the s4 turbo to the s5 n/a, its retarded.

Why doesnt he just sell or part out the turbo car and keep the n/a as a daily driver, buy another t2 with the money you got from the s4 that you sold and everyone is happy. Most parts from the s4 rx7's wont even work with the s5 outfit, just because they are a different car. You know, motor mounts engine harnesses and all that good garbage.

Take the advice or dont, I'm pretty sure you're going to try and swap s4 stuff into your n/a s5 anyway so good luck.

The thing is we already have a s4 engine just chilling, that cars body is junk sadly. Why would it be so difficult, isn't the motor mounts and harness reusable from the turbo to the N/A car? I'm going to do this for a friend as a project but I'm just doing the research to see if its possible and what I will have to do differently on the N/A car to make it work.

Mounts yes, harness no. The write-ups you need are here: http://rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen/techmenu.html

You are probably going to have to swap out ALL wiring and electronics in the whole car. s4 and s5 stuff isn't compatible.

Alright, new question now. What is needed for a s5 N/A to swap a s5 turbo engine in? We have a s4 car that we can take parts off, just to add that if we can take anything off it.

Like was said previously, do not swap S4 motor and electronics with S5 motor and electronics and vice versa. It can be done but why? S4 to S4 and S5 to S5 is much, much easier and the result is basically the same.

s5 turbo engine in an s5 na body is plug and play. That's definately do-able, and lots of people have done it.

Do a forum search to see which s4 stuff will fit in an s5, or just look at it and measure if it's a simple enough part. Whatever won't fit, sell it. I'd strip down the s4 and part out what you don't want or can't use.

Yeah I agree but i was asking what can be used from the s4 as in drivetrain and such for the potential s5 turbo engine swap. If its useless then I wont do it but then we would just have to pick up some turbo s5 parts for the full swap.
