FC noob, couple questions.

hey everyone. im a total FC noob. i bought a 89 rx7 convertable turboII with a 5sp that was swapped into the car. I have a few noobie questions, if someone could help me out with these i would be really grateful.

please note that the computer im on has so much spyware and its so old that it would be impossible for me to search this stuff through the FAQ.. i would love to search but this would take me days on the computer.

question1 - i have a squeaky 10th avvv steering wheel.. the inside rattles, and also when i turn the wheel squeaks. do i have to take the wheel off and grease it? or can i use a spray lube and not have to pull the wheel off?

2- oil pressure runs 4 at idle, and 8 at anything over idle.. using mobil syn 5w30 oil... not good? comments?

3- exhaust is 3in DP with s/s mufflers, no cat conv, and no resinator. sometimes exhaust smells like burning oil or maybe like fuel blowby.. common, or not a good thing?

4- engine has like zero kms on it, was supposidly reuilt before it left japan. the engine burns oil. about 1/4 of a L every 400 kms... am i fucked? do 13b engines normally burn oil?

thats all i can think of now, thanks to anyone who can respond, like i said i would love to look this up for myself, but this computer is so slow and fucked that it took me 15 mins to make this post.

www.snapfiles.com www.webroot.com download SPybot and SpySweeper
www.grisoft.com download AVG free edition. Problems solved

Disasemble and lube with grease as needed or buy a new stearing wheel.

2- oil pressure runs 4 at idle, and 8 at anything over idle.. using mobil syn 5w30 oil... not good? comments? Wrong oil. Run 20w50. I prefer Royal Purple oil. If you like mobil one use the redcap is posible 20w50

Is there any colorization to the smoke? They do burn oil naturaly about 1qrt per 1k miles. But nothing that you should smell or see.

4- engine has like zero kms on it, was supposidly reuilt before it left japan. the engine burns oil. about 1/4 of a L every 400 kms... am i fucked? do 13b engines normally burn oil?

Yes and a fresh rebuild if it truly is will burn a lil more untill evrything seats up.

thanks for your reply bud. I've tried to get rid of the spyware, but none of the programs i DL will work. Im actually waiting for my friend to format my computer and reinstall windows. He gave me this whole computer for a case of beer. the mose barely scrolls to the right, but hey it cost me next to nothing, so im not going to complain.

as for the oil, are you sure i should be running 20w50? i just assumed it would use 5w30. i live in alberta canada, and our average temp is like 10degrees celsius, sand i have seen what 15w40 looks like when its a little cooler, so i was thinking maybe that would be too thick of an oil?
but i guess these engines do run very hot, so maybe its the best oil to use?

as for my oil burning, theres no color to the smoke, and just smells a little weird sometimes.

It sounds like a ball mouse. remove the circle holding container on the bottum and clean all the dirt out of it that is on the wheels.

from 20w50 is rated from 25c + in your conditions lets see. 10w30 -15 to 30C 10w40 -15c to 10c and 10w50 10c and on

you need to be runing 90 rear end oil and 80w90 tranny

correct me if i'm wrong but it isn't it better if you run more W in the cold so the oil doesn't freeze? and less W in the summer? Thats a little part of your oil question. So if it's cold in CND run with 20w if its warm run 10w

13B's are supposed to burn oil she should burn about 1qt every 1000mi or so(im not sure how many kms that is), so a bit of oil smell from your exhaust is to be expected.
good luck and enjoy your rotary!!

as far as I know, thefirst number in the oil description is its viscosity at outside temp, and the second is its viscosity at operating temp.
in my old car i ran 0w30 in the winter. cold starts were a snap.

when i used to change oil, we set some oils outside on a cold day (-30 celsius)
0/30 poured great
5/30 was the next best
10/30 was next
and 15/40 didnt pour at all.

this is a summer car only for me. so this car will drive in conditions ranging from 0celsius (freezing point) all the way up to hot days which are 30celsius. so what oil do you guys recommend?

the car is from japan, so I couldnt find any oil recomendation anywhere on the car, so i went with mobil 1 synthetic 5w30... sucks that i just wasted 50 bucks

-and just to update, i got my 10th anny wheel to stop rattling, and squeaking when i turn. also got my interior lights to work. and also spent the whole day ripping out the jap stereo and wiring in my pioneer. now the power antenna works too, but looks butt ugly when its up!

thanks for everyons input, stu[pid noob's that dont search are pain in the ***, but my computer situation is no good right now

Just so you don't wonder anymore. There is a pump called a OMP or (MOP on this board for some reason). this pump pul oil directly out of your sump and pumps it up into the intake where it mixes with fuel and lubricates the rotors and housings similar to a two stroke. This is why you smell that oil smell really stronger than you'd expect.

Not wanting to start the oil thing again, (please go to another computor and search out the oil threads) So I WILL NOT RECOMMEND an oil at all, cause every body will start arguing when clearly Castrol GTX 20W50 is superior......Damn.
