FC Mirror disassembly - pics

For what it's worth: I wanted to take my mirrors apart to paint them a while back. A search only yeilded the fact that there were four screws to remove behind the glass but no pics. Some even thought you had to break the glass. You don't. There are four screws to remove behind the glass which you can get at by tilting the mirror as far as it will go to the top and bottom. Two of the screws are on the top side and two on the bottom. Use a light to see in there. The pics are of the mirror apart so you can see the four mounting locations. Of course, reassembly is much easier!

Well, it's not my hand cause I'm taking the picture! It was my son's hand i think and his fingers are curled.

i'm planning on painting my mirrors but i didn't plan on removing the guts from them, you could just wrap making tape around the outside edge of the glass and tape up the front of the glass but i guess it couldn't hurt to see how easily they unscrew.

I just used universal black from Canadian Tire with no clear coat. It's not as nice as the rest of the car but looks fine.

this is some good info, I hate spending all that money painting a car just to see tape rings around the mirrors. with more detail and pics on how to get to those 4 screws I say this should be archived, oddball details like this help out too.
