FC interiors

Well I keep popping back and forth between buying and FC and an FD(mainly for financial reasons). A stickler for me with the FC is the wonderfull 80's style interior. Im sure there are plenty of guys who love it but I am just curious if you guys have any ideas for a little touch up. The seats would be replaced anyways and I hate the custom colored fiberglass crap. Nothing ricey, just something to modernize it like some nice guages or something for the dash/panel area. Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

http://www.speedmachineperformance.com/home they make alot of parts out of CF and they look pretty nice, they dress up the interior alot.

i have the duel gauge pod and am waiting on the tripple gauge pod for the idiot cluster to be finished.

The fc interiors are nice and comfy. everything is in reach.

The one thing i like the best about my fc is my elbow sits on the armrest between the seats and i dont have to pick my elbow up off the rest to shift.

The one downside. No cup holders (i think the fd has one with a lil cover)

It's possible, but you just have to get creative... Don't be afraid of paint, seriously. Everything orange can be eliminated.

The stock black leather seats look awesome (if they're clean).

I don't think the Orange is bad. I went out and got a RF head unit with an Orange background and all my gauges the same way. I find it that at night, it's all easy to read. without having the lights really bright, which bleaches your eyes when driving in really dark environments.

Very true. This is something people often comment on after driving my car: "Wow, everything is so easy to reach!" Barely take your hands off the wheel, and you've got everything for driving, then radio/AC are just a tiny move from the shifter.

agreed.

I think that the FC interior is WAY ahead of its time.

True, all the plastic sucks and breaks if you look at it funny, but ergonomically (sp?) you can't beat it.

i found it way better to reach and view comfortably than my 90 Celica. The celica's got the wrap around effect on the dash so it feels like your in a cockpit, but i like the ergonomics of the 7's interior better

There isn't much that I'd change on my car. I like the orange gauges. I think the car was way ahead of it's time.

FC is taller inside. I can wear my helmet and sit comfortably in my FC. My helmet hits the roof in the FD so I have to scrunch down in the seat a ways to keep my head straight.

You are lucky if only your helmet hits, Im 6'8" and my head hits the roof if i dont lean back slightly, and i have to open the sunroof when im at the auto-x and wearing a helmet. One advantage to bein tall tho, I can drive my FC with my knees. Anyways, I like the FC interior, I have a Pioneer deck with the motorized face, and in 1/3/5 gear, i can adjust it without leaving the shifter.

dude the interior is the best part!!! what you do is get SE door panels, rip all the crappy stuff off and do it with a flat peice of carbon print vinyl. then take out the dash and get it wrapped in carbon print vinyl. add nice seats and your sTOKED. i love the interior of my car.

I think the orange gauges are great. It is large and easy to read. Ergonomic-wise, everything is within easy reach and the interior is snug without making you feel claustorphobic.

I value to simplicity of the set-up. It's almost German the way things are laid out. My only gripe is that the turn signal/high beam stalk feels flimsy and Im always afraid that I might break it.

You guys seriously rock. Like I said Ive been debating between an FD and an FC for along time now and one thing has remained constant. The FC's guys are fantastic. Not one of you posted some useless unhelpfull crap. I was expecting a few posts along the lines of "shut the hell up. you dont even have the car and your knocking the interior." Had I posted this same question in the 3rd Gen forum I would have been ripped apart. This has been true for many of my questions. I havent been told off by an FC owner yet. Maybe it's just by chance but it seems you guys love your cars for the right reasons. You dont flame people for being "rice" you just just state you dont like something, and explain why. I really respect the FC community and in all honesty, you guys may be why I lean towards the FC.

Actually im as surprised as you are that nobody's popped in here screaming "rice"...everyone must be in a good mood today.

I understand where you're coming from about the interior tho. I felt the same way when i first took a seat in my fc before buying it. Everythings all weird and boxy and it looks kinda cramped. But man after a few nice hard runs, u'll start seeing it differently just because it works so damn well. The best part about it is that i can reach the buttons on my aftermarket radio without taking my hand off the shifter. Its freaking sweet!!
Function has a funny way of overcoming flash sometimes....

I just love the fcs in general. but as stated the turn signal and high beam lever dose feel a bit weak. I think one of the best parts about the car....... Little to no blind spots i can see all around my fc. plus the back hatch makes for a good "pick up area" i'm 5' 8'' and i lay in the back of my fc with the hatch open with a chick next to me and look at the night sky. chicks dig the 7

I think my 7 has seen more action then me

I love the S5 all black leather interior. Yeah I agree that say a maroon interior from like a '86 base would be uglier than ****. But they can be very nice. I'll post a pic of mine.

Not as nice as the FD but I still like it. By the way its not an auto any more. I'll have to get a pic with the new shifter boot and ****.

I need a new interior for the TII, would it be easy to swap over a all black S5 interior?

black and/grey are the only good colors for any car interior, anything else just makes it feel too plasticy and fake...

maroon is horriable, i cant understand why any cars would have that interior, espically sports cars. remind me of my grandparents eighty-eight

i agree that the interior feels cramped at first, but once you drive it hard it feels great. i think the shifter could be a bit further forward though.

i didn't really like FD interior at all. it felt way too cramped.
