ha ha, way to lay the collective bitch slap on me!

All it would have taken to make the FC dash better would be for it to have a better shape, which costs no more money do do than a boxy dash, so your arguments about Porsches being more expensive is not correct.

I hate the dash and want to rip it out and burn it. Then I would make a fiberglass dash and console and ditch those amber gauges.

Then I would drop an LS-1 / T56 in that badboy!

Ha ha, you haters. Don't even tell me to buy an F body. They are pigs. I want to make my FC what it should have been all along: a high powered, reliable sports car with some real torque sans forced induction. Be it known that the FC is more than the rotary engine, it is a truly great sports car with a few problems that could be fixed. I guess I see it differently than our vocal majority here.

I guess Im just a sucker for 80's/early 90's cars.. I love the hard lines of the FC, Porsche 944, C4 Vette, etc.. The interior just goes with it. I honeslty dont find anything wrong with the layout of the interior of the FC..I think its great.

Now with that being said, of course there are a few things than can be done to spice it up a little, as mentioned before. But as for any major changes..no I wouldnt want to do that.

I guess interior taste varies from one person to the next. Or I am just weird.

I agree the FC interior is not very asthetically pleasing but it is comfortable! which is all that really matters to me! I might one day, after reaching my 500rwhp goal, my new paint job + Lighter wight rims and mazdaspeed splitter, New seats five poitn harness and full suspension! and 10k l8er worry about making a custom dash!

Maroon is dated.
Black leather still looks good today.

Hey, I'm thinking of a Factory Five Spyder GT V8 fitted with a Cosmo 20B 3-rotor and 6-speed. Nothing wrong with thinking of odd-ball swaps.

It's your car, and I think coming up with a better shaped dash is a great idea. Something like out of the 928 or a 90-96 300ZX would be nice.

As for an LS1 V8 in an FC... well... it doesn't feel right to me. No mistake, I think the LS1 is a great engine, and I love the way it sounds in a C5 'Vette. An RX7... seems out of character to do such a swap.

In my thoughts. The S5 TII with the black interior is by far the best interior. It is beyond sexy. If you have a chance to get a 91 sales book for the RX-7 they have two page picture of the interior. To me it is stunning.

I like the way you think. Except I'm going Aluminum headed L98 TPI with a AOD... I just don't trust the cost/reliability of most GM sticks. I'm slowly making the interior the way I want it to be... removing the cheesy mold lines and cheap plastics... I figure in about a year it should be where I want it...

I'll post pics then.

If you don't like the FC interior, you are an active passenger, not a driver. The cockpit of the FC was built for drivers. No, I take that back, it was built for ground pilots. Everything is within easy reach and the only important gauge is front and center. Honestly, as long as the car feeds you all the info you need, and puts the controls where you can operate them without moving around in your seat, the engnieers did a great job.

i think the the a/c vents that go into the doors is the best thing ever.

i like the interior. it's simple, yet efficient - and since the previous owner had taken such good care of mine, it looks great.

however, i wish you didn't have to take everything out to get to the clock. that's bad design. and i do wish they'd replaced the change holder with at least one cup holder. even sports car drivers get thirsty.

a round conture dash would not fit. the out side is made of hard lines with compound curves. I think the interior is good at duplacating this. a stream line dash would take seem rong and would not work out.

Just so you know. The whole Sell your car/throw acid in your face comment was a totally drunken joke comment.

88intergraLS We all know you have some very very good skills when it comes to glass/moulding/creative idea's. Hell your front bumper is a prime example of this. Do what you wish man. In the end it's your car and nothing we say will change that. There's nothing front with changing the form of something (Dash layout) as long as it stay's relitivly effective and lightwight.

Good luck with whatever you do man. and be sure to take some pics!!

P.S. how did that cold air box ever come along??

Compare our FC interior to an 80s 300zx. We have nothing to complain about. Whera s the 300zx 80s interior is horrible.

integra, im sorry but if you put an ls1 in an fc you will officially become a redneck. The only people that swap a piston motor into a fc are the ones that are too dumb to catch on to how the rotary works. If you want to do a v8 swap get a 300zx or supra or something but if you have the FC respect it for what it is. Anyway the big v8 would completely ruin the 50/50 balance and all handling. Build a bad *** rotary and keep that.

PISTONS SHOULD BE PISST ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

LOL You do realize he custom street ported his rotary, right?

And damn, I hate to think of how big a redneck I am... I'm swapping a much older V8 then the LS1 into mine. I'm done feeding the pistons suck fire now... I love my rotary... and I'll probably buy another FC this summer (TII).

I cant believe people are still so ignorant about V8 swaps.. You do realize that a LS1 weighs a touch less than a 13BT, right?

As soon as my engine swap is complete, and my car done totally..I am seriously considering a LS1 or LT1 /T-56 swap into a FC. I really dont want to get into the argument in yet another thread, but do a little research on it before badmouthing something.

Other then "it will ruin what an Rx-7 is about".. (which I can agree with to a point) there is no viable reason to look down upon a properly done V-8 conversion.

This thread is not about V8 swaps, which can be found in the other engine conversions section. The merits of (or lack of merits) should not be discussed in the 2nd gen section.

Anymore V8/ alternative engine swap off topic posts in this thread and it will be closed.

personally, since the first time I sat in my TII, I liked the way it looked. I am a very critical person and am the first to point out what I believe are negative design aspects. My car did not get spared any of this criticism. But one thing that I do point out to passengers is the quality of the interior design. I believe it is timeless. The simple lines are good, because they are not 'faddish'. Compared to similar year sports cars, the Rx has well withstood the test of time. I must say that I really dislike the orange and red/blue ghetto 80's lighting... Ughh, heinous. My interior is coming along, and I will post pics asap.
