FC crappy gas mileage
I have a strong running 87 sport but my gas mileage is hideous. Ive calculated it to around ten. Sometimes 12 if im lucky. I know the cars old so i dont expect to be getting the full 17 or so that im supposed to be getting but 10 just aint right. What could i do to remedy the problem. Hit me with your ideas. Thanks

I have to admit to a disclaimer that a LOT of it is highway at 70 to 80 mph, but I get 26-27 mpg when it's warm out...and that's ******* on it every now & then... make sure ya got a good o2 sensor and your ignition system is in good shape...

my N/A has a RB Header, Presilencer, Apex'i N1 catback, and cone filter. i still haven't changed my fuel filter though so hopefully that'll help the mileage.

I get a max of 16-17 usually. If i mob around a lot and redline a ton I'll get like 12, if I drive shifting at low rpms all the time and not driving fast I can get it up to 18/19 but that's hard

These are all very low #'s. My modded T2 averages 20 mpg. My old vert got 23 mpg. There is room for improvement in almost all you situations. Most mods on a N/A will increase gas milage. Same with a turbo under normal driving conditions.
Also keep in mind that if your tires are not the stock size your numbers will be completely off.

Thanks for the advice. Im planning to replace the fuel filter so ill see if that helps. I try to shift before 3 but, you're right, that is really hard. Theres nothing like open throttle in a 7. Im hoping i can get it at least 17 mpg. 20 would be nice. Gas around here is EXPENSIVE!

I paid $2.25 yesterday for 87 pulp. Get about 12 MPG on my Streeported 13B w/ 48 IDA...less when it starts screaming. **** it...its a rotary...you want gas milage buy a hybrid.
But we gotta do something about these prices...this is getting ****** stoopid.

hey maybe you guys can help me out.. i have a 93 fd, when i bought it gas milage was real bad, plus she only drinks 93octane so i spend about 50 bucks a week and i BARELY drive it, i mean like maybe like a day or two or sometimes 3 a week and i only drive it to a friends house ... anyways sice a few months ago ive noticed gas milage has gotten noticeably worse if thats even possible.. my car is friggin stock and she drinks like a 500 hp street car.... any suggestions? is this something that happens when you got low compresion?

and this sucks even more with the gas prices, i put ten bucks of gas and it's only half a tank with 87 octane. I remember when 10 bucks was almost full.

any elaboration on actual difference of the o2 sensor? if its an 8-->20 jump, it pays for itself in less than two weeks. But i thought o2 sensors were only used on closed loop (extended periods of ~ speed)
