How come it doesnt fit in where it suppose to go? unless I dont have 4 pot brakes?

I have 5 lug GXL brakes on base model car. Does the GXL have 4 pot front brakes?

Okay I just found out...these brake pads are for the RX-7's with adjusting suspension and converts. Damn it. Cannot use.

All of the GXLs should have the 4 piston front brakes as far as I know.

^Those are the brake pads I ordered here recently. The front pads are on the left and they look about the same as yours (hard to tell with the plastic over them). I'm assuming they fit but I haven't put them on yet.

Why does adjusting suspension matter? I bet it's just some way to identify which non-turbo cars have the 4 piston brake setup. If you are talking about auto-adjusting suspension (which I'd imagine you are), that's a GXL-only feature, which you have (or had at some point).

As far as I know no GXL ever came without auto adjusting suspension or without 4 piston calipers. Maybe try taking a picture of your old pads and/or your calipers so we know what you are dealing with?

My suspicion is that the brake pads you ordered should fit.

I'm not sure if you pulled them off of an S4 or an S5, but it shouldn't matter.

These are from the FAQ section:
1987 (S4):

1989 (S5):

^Note the brakes on the GXL as well as the suspension.

Are you sure the front brakes came off a GXL?

Well, your wrong. GXL are the "luxury" of the 7's. So 4 pot brakes up front. vent rear rotors. Also the s4 came with lsd, while the s5 did not.

With the auto adjusting suspension your mistaken. I believe only the gxl came with auto adjusting suspension. (From the switch). I have a gxl and factory it comes with auto adjusting suspension and both my gxl's have 4 pot brakes up front, vented rear rotor, adjustable suspension. (Normal or sports)

To the OP, these look like fronts to me and I don't see how the GXL model is different for the brakes.

Are you sure you retracted the pistons?

Haha yep, I'm not wrong. 2slow4stock, if you re-read what I posted I was saying the same thing you are.

I believe he swapped on the GXL brakes, as his sig indicates he has an 87 base model. As long as he actually did get GXL brakes and not an S5 GTU setup (I think that would be the only 5-lug car that would have single piston fronts) those brake pads should work I would think.
