So I pulled the antenna out already and im about to get it painted and I want to make sure I have a way to plug it and still be able to use the stock spoiler. Any suggestions? Or has anybody done this and have pics

I too would like to know what people have done. I personally have the OEM ABS s5 wing so the options may differ from what people are using for the foam wings.

Every car in a junkyard will have about a billion plugs that will fit that hole.
There's nothing weird or exotic about this, it's Automotive 101.

Clokker, you have a point, but sometimes people like confirmation or just another opinion by someone with a bit of experience.

So yes, a plug the right size from a junkyard into the hole in the body, then have the body shop fill in the hole in the wing.

If no spoiler, best way is for body shop to spot weld a round disk flush with the outside to minimize/eliminate bondo needed to smoothen the repair.

Just go get a body plug, you lazy bastard.

The Turbo wing will sit flush over a standard plug, so that's not an issue.
You will still have the hole/passage in the wing itself, but the body will be sealed.

I was thinking more along the lines of plugging the hole in the wing itself. The body could be welded or plugged.

OK then, the "mod" will have two requirements.
Sealing the body hole is mechanical, either a plug or welding takes care of that.

Dealing with the hole left in the wing is aesthetic and I'd assume you'd deal with it as you would a regular urethane (or whatever the OEM wing is) repair.

When I still ran a T2 wing I bodyplugged the hole and slapped the wing back, called it a day. I lack the skills and motivation to do a full reno on a wing just to delete a relatively minor cosmetic flaw.

Laugh it up now.
If you've never removed your wing, you haven't experienced Mazda's exquisitely horrific mounting system.
Laugh through that.

I'll take a picture of mine, PO took out the antenna and did a good job at plugging the hole.

Just for posterity, the RX7 uses a diversity system (more than on receiving antenna). You can easily remove the rear aerial antenna and make (or buy) a male to male motorola antenna adapter to plug an aftermarket radio into the windshield antenna.

Tis true. I am only running the windshield antenna on my car as well, using the method I described above.

My aftermarket glass had the antenna...I don't think you need factory to get it.

You say you are having the car painted?

Just have the body shop fill the hole in the sheet metal and the wing. Done and done
