FC = Smokers?
Ummm I have an 89 GXL and it tends to smoke a little, not a lot but some on startup. It is more than my 626 but I was just wondering if 7's have a tendency to smoke more than normal piston engines? Also what kind of "wire" did you guys use to ground the code plug to the negative bat terminal?

To answer your Q properly. you need to riddle me this! Do you ahve a aftermarket exhaust? What's the temp outside? Always on start up, even after it's warmed up? Was it humid, like did it just rain?

The answer is my cat back isn't stock but the rest is. Could my stupid cats be clogged? And the weather in maine has been a little cold and white for the past couple of months so...yeah. When it is hot out it smokes around the same so I was just wondering.

Haven't we ALL heard this
My '86 base model smokes a lot some times and none sometimes. I attribute that to the 181,000 miles. And also... in high school I did not know jack about engines. IE After XC practice start the car and 4000 rpm. Dump clutch and leave school. I miss the old days

See, I don't do that I am meticulous about the car. However, I think I have found the problem, rotary drivin cars love to well be drivin, since mine has been drivin all that much or at all over the winter could this smoke be atoned to carbon build up? Or is there something else I should be looking for? Thanks.

Ok guys... smoking @ startup is fairly normal. Even BLUE oil smoke is NORMAL. It happens... technically, they shouldn't but it's very common and the only real solution is an engine rebuild. Even most FRESH motors smoke some... so don't worry about it

Hahahahaha, thanks guys, this is really what I figured and thank you very much Brian_TII, now I can stop worrying about the motor and start upgrading my suspension and such. Thanks a lot guys plus I take really good care of the car, let it warm up no shifting above 3k until 10 minutes in, run premix, no crap white gunk in oil cap, and no bubbles in overflow. So now it is gona get a strait pipe into a Apexi N1 single and some good ole tinting. Thanks again.
