FB tranny in an FC?

i read somewhere about swapping an FB tranny in an FC, swapping the FB tailhousing, with the FC one, so as to locate the shifter in the proper location...the fb trans in question is from a 79, not sure of the model or anything, but essentially, i just need it to get me back to vegas and get me to and fro where i need to go till i get a little more cash to buy an fc trans, i keep hearing the FB ones are actually geared better, so if it works i may leave it, lol, and rebuild mine to be much stronger...but anyway, original question...will a 79 FB tranny fit in a FC, and if so, what needs to be swapped?

no, you need an 83-up transmission, so 83-85 if you go with a FB tranny.
