Fastest way to disable OMP!
Fastest way to disable OMP!
Hey guys I need to know how to disable the s4 omp. I have blue smoke coming out of my exhaust once in awhile when i start up and it smokes after letting my car idle for 10 minutes. When I push the gas down it goes away. I need to disable the omp and run premix to see if it is still smoking. This way I can know if its the engine or omp. Btw this is a rebuilt ported engine with 12k miles. Thanks
Well, to disable it you would need to remove it, block it off and replace the oil injectors with screws.
Though maybe the last post will help you enough. I think the mop will still inject SOME oil with the rod disconnected, unless you manually push the lever to close it all the way.
I doubt the mop will inject enough oil to make you think the car is not working right.
BTW there are also tests in teh FSM to tell you if the MOP is workign right. ie it is not putting in too little or too much oil...

Or try this- remove the OMP linkage connection at the throttle linkage, start the car, and manually go full throttle with the OMP linkage (not the throttle linkage too, though, lol). If the smoking increases, it may very well be your OMP. If the smoking stays the same or decreases, it's probably the engine...
If you want to disable it w/o using a block off plate (suggested for an "at the moment" type thing..)
Find 4 bolts that have the same bolt pattern of most all the other 12 MM bolts on the car.
Take out the 4 banjo bolts on the MOP, take the 4 bolts, get some black RTV and put a bit on the top end of the thread, and put a new copper sealing washer on.
Then you need to get 4 bolts to fit the MOP injector holes. I just took my LIM off, brought it into my local hardware store and started fitting
Didn't take too long to find the perfect ones... but I had to cut them short a bit.
Do the same for these... a bit of black RTV silicone on the top half, and a copper sealing washer.
Then when you get a block off plate, all you'll have to do is take the MOP off, put some gasket maker on the o-ring area, and tighten it down
This will require taking off the upper intake manifold and most things connected to it.
The RTV may not be all that needed... but all I know is my **** don't leak
This is how my car is at the moment. My block off plate is on its way though... so it hasnt been run like this for long.
