OEM vs aftermaket

Hey i need new struts for my 91 vert. so one day under the car i noticed the back have tokico stamped in them. the fronts have kyb. they are old and i assume the originals. So since i work for Mazda, i went to order new ones and they only come in OEM form, but they are made by tokico. so am i getting something similar to the tokico "blues"? by the way i just had new Yokohama av6 tires installed and , damn the car feels so much better then my old bald ones.word.

no, the OEM valving is pretty weak and typically is worn enough at 20K miles to have noticeable difference in handling. You are getting the equivelent of Monroe Matic shocks using the OEM ones.

You would have been light years better off getting the real Tokico blues.

And didn't you have a thread asking this last week???

pretty simple install... maybe an hour each strut if you have never done it before.

All you need is a couple of wrenchs and a spring compressor
