fan question

87 N/A automatic.

does the fan for the heater have a posetive and a negative? just wondering cause the fan works now but it doest seem to be pushing out the air at all. thought maybe if i hooked up the cabeles backwards it would have the opposite evvect and not push air but take in air? sounds dum but im confused at the moment and no seems to be able to help me troubleshoot this stuff.
yes i have a new logicon from icemard. new fan too. redid grounds in engine compartment. and new battery.
anyone have any input?

had the radiator flushed and they told me heater core is working so i dont think its that either.

DC motors will reverse direction with reverse polarity, so polarity is important.
Squirrel cage fans don’t suck when going backwards, they just churn the air internally.

so what your saying is i have the wires packwards ? that could be an option to my problem.

with it not working for about a year couldt things have blocked of internally in the vents? is there anything mechanically in the plastic housing that hold the fan be kaput, that is not allowing the air to pass through?

thanks for the help so far.

There are 4 or so air control doors in the ducts.
They rarely give trouble, but it's possible.
Here is a link ti the FSM

hmmmmm see im getting heat but not very much at all barely noticable. you can turn it of and it stops. so i was thinking its either the fan was spinning backwards or not enough juice going to he fan.

any more suggestion?

first guess - fan reversed.
second guess - a door stuck.
third guess - disconnected or missing ductwork.

1)fan reversed-- im assuming your talking about the two wires.
2)door stuck--- how do i go about checking to make sure its open -- is this mechanically operated?
3)duct work missing or disconnected. hmmmmmm iguess ill have to compare to the old one i had originally installed. unless the donner car missing it to begin with it should all be there.

do you know the voltage its soppose to measure at the fan?

Yes.

Just hope that's not the problem. They are opened & closed by small gear motors, all contolled by the logicon. Very reliable but a PITA to troubleshoot

It's variable - maybe 3-10 volts - controlled by the power transistor.
When you hit the high speed relay it jumps up to 12 volts.

ok thanks i will try and check the volts today also try and change the wires around. hopefully i wont blow any fused or relays or anthing in that matter. also, i got a new logicon and when i witch the items to face feet defrost etc. i can hear things move so im hoping that s not it.

thanks again and hopefully its just the wires. i would think though black to black and color to color wire . but i guess that would be wrong.

Fan rotation is an easy fix. - No harm done.
(Just don't ever get the main battery polarity reversed.)
