Please use the search function, as this has been covered many times.

The stock alarm uses the key in the door to disarm. They arm by locking the latch on the inside of the door.

The stock system arms when you lock both doors from the inside. You must (of course) hold the outside drivers door handle up when locking, so that the door remains locked when you close the door.

To disarm, use the key in the door, turning it to the unlock position.

The system triggers by a door or the hatch/trunk being opened without the key or the ignition being turned on.

The system will kill the starter, honk the horn, and flash the turn signals when triggered.

The alarm is wired into the button on the chassis controls your interior lights when the door is opened or closed... Hence, if yours only works intermittently (like mine) your factory security system won't work very well either.
