Do one of two things...

1. Use a block off plate on the engine where the "hose" comes out of and goes to your cat converter. You should be able to leave the airpump on without any adverse efects UNLESS you still have your cat on. IF you do your cat will die with out the air. DONT DO IT. If no cat, then there is really no reason to have the air pump and it is really easy to remove, you might want to cover the ACV or at least block the imput tube to avoid anything slipping in there. You can leave the pump if you want.

2. IF you still have a cat. RECONECT EVERYTHING. There are no advantages to not running the emmisions add-ns with a cat. You just kill the cat, and in your case cause a huge vac leak. put the hose to the cat back and make sure that the emmisions are running properly.

If you have an S5 NA, and your air pump is working, but you have no cat, I don't think you should block off the air pump. S5's need the air pump for their 6PI and VDI. If you're running standalone, then sure, remove both the air pump and the ACV and block it off. If the air pump gets blocked off while still in use, you can end up killing the pump. Think where all the air goes after you install a block off plate after the air pump. Since the air has nowhere to go after the blockoff plate, think what happens if the air pump runs out of room to pump air.

I've been running without a split air tube on my GTUs for a long time now. No leaks of any type. My split air tube in my 91 is pinched, and now I'm starting to worry a little.

S4's are a different story of course.

Please don't give advice unless you know the subtle differences between the S4 and the S5 NA's. You could end up robbing some S5 owner of their high-end if they think "Oh, I have no cat, obviously I don't need the airpump." They then should not be surprised if their 6PI and their VDI do not work. Unless of course, they have an alternative way of operating those features.

Reconnect the split air line or leave it off.....it doesn't do anything but pump air to aitmosphere, either from where the split air line ends, if you have the line on, or from where the split air line originates, if you have it off.

You need the airpump to open the aux ports and VDI on an S5.

I pointed this out in a previous post. You just can't remove it.

There are instructions in the Archives on how set this up.

What problems should I be having if my air pump is venting to atmosphere?

I don't understand why I'm going to run rich.....

Sorry, I messed up. I thought the airpump pulled metered air, but it just pulls air from the airbox.

So just to clarify, because this thread has become very confusing for everyone who's read it:

You can either leave the split air tube on and vent the air pump air to atmosphere, or take the split air tube off, and still vent the air to atmosphere?

I only thought about this since I figured, if you block the pump off, won't the pump run out of space to pump the air into? Won't that end up killing the pump?
