hmmm...

I am running the Bosch O2 sensor on my '89 TII and I get straight up rich when WOT, with cruise control I get it bouncing between lean and stoich (crossing into rich sometimes).

Fifth gear is a little odd though, at cruise at 60 MPH (100KPH) it cruises at the top of lean boucing back and fourth between low lean and top lean, then it sometimes floors it and goes straight rich. So I just cruise at 130 KPH so that it is boucing between rich and lean.

It could be reliant on the O2 sensor as well.

Letting off the gas makes for no lights (nothing but air going through the engine).

For installation I just stripped my a/f gauge signal wire (which I ran a second one off the one that came with the meter) and stripped it long enough to fit around the little pin in the connector from the O2 sensor to the wire mess in the engine, then I just closed the connector (the wire has to be stripped enough so that the plastic part of the wire doesn't get squished into the connector.

Anyways, mine reads good and works fine, with minor discreptencies.

Im gathering it's supposed to start lean-ish, so it sounds like it's working right now....?

http://www.fc3s.org/ That site, under MANUALS, has the pin out for the 89 ECU.

Two, the knock sensor wire is also shielded.
i just looked for one that was sheilded and taped into it
Good thinking!
it works just about the same as it did before, but when you start it now its in lean until it warms, and before it started in rich till it warmed?????????
Don’t worry about what it says until both the car and the sensor are fully warmed up.

so... without the o2 sensor you cant connect the a/f guage? thats the idea i'm getting... the 87 TII i got had straight pipe and the DP doesnt have a sensor (well it's welded close), and the car already has a a/f guage

Gotta have the o2 sensor for the gauge to work. Need the 02 sensor for the ECU to work to its full potential, although the o2 is not in the loop at idle or full throttle. But you spend a lot of time in between whether you admit or not.

Define "properly"...
The engine will actually run pretty good with one.&nbsp Hell, some people even claim the cars runs better without one.&nbsp The ECU will default rather rich if it doesn't "see" and O2 sensor, so this does is decrease our gas mileage.
