A/F gauge not working correctly

well it works fine when the car isnt totally warmed up but when it is and i floor it the whole entire rich side lights up shouldnt one little square light up not the whole thing. i have all my wires solderd anybody's elses do this

Mine did that when the connection wasn't fully together (the first time I put it in I guess I did a crappy job with the wire connection). Anyways, you said its all soldered in so I dont think it would be that, but I was having the that same problem as you described when my connection was **** poor.

if you dtermine it to be the connections, re-do the wiring with butt or window splices, you'll get a better conductive splice. Soldering a cold wire is tricky, unless you know what you're doing with the flux...Evidently the japs had a hard time with soldering, too, as is evidenced by all the cold solder joints on our cars...

If you have a narrowband 02 sensor hooked up to your A/F gauge, then it will always read rich when you are on it.

i re-did all the wiring. i think it might be the wire on the harness in the engine bay its very brital and i think it might have broken a little somewhere. if i unwrap the harness a little what color is the 02 wire i cant tell from mine because its lost all its color. is it black?

go wideband, a/f guages suck and are innacurate ive heard.

thanks mark. how much bigger is the wideband gauge than a regular autometer gauge

i cant remember exactly who made it (bosch or edelbrock) but they made a wideband guae kit for like $400

workes great and cheap too
