I know you're going to hate me for criticizing again, but the gauges are seem to be aimed at the roof rather than your head...

I dont hate critizism, they are pointed up quite a bit, if you take a look at the a-pillar you notice the angle isn't quite as great on the dash, they may not point straight at my looking ***** but I would say they would point straight at the top of my head, hopefully that will help them not reflect light in my eyes, haha, just jokes, because the body is so shallow I dont think it will affect any functionality of the gauges.

Great ideas, man. I would love to do something similar, just so I can have something that I think looks better and is original to me.

But how did you make that? I mean, in the sense that..did you just lay fg over the current dash and smooth out the parts you wanted?

I've done a little bit of FG before, but not a ton, so I'm still curious as to how to improve. Here's some FG work I did on my current daily driver ('01 Ford Taurus) for fitting my carpc with my touchscreen.

I've followed this thread since inception and still don't know what to think.

Kudos and all that for the ambition and actually following through, especially given the total lack of experience in fiberglassing.

But...

I really question the aesthetics.

The stock dash is really quite large but it's broken up visually by vents, seam lines (like the switch bezel/ gauge pod interface), glove box, etc., so it's sheer mass isn't really evident.
Recreating the shape of the dash without any of the details just accentuates the size of the piece and since most of the stuff behind the dash is now gone, the reason for that size and shape is missing as well.
Particularly egregious is the passenger side- basically just a huge, semi-bulbous. blank area.
To me, that flat fronted space just cries out for a door ( and of course, I'm conditioned to expect one there), so it appears that either you ran out of energy and just stopped or are planning on adding one eventually...at any rate- it looks unfinished.

I think that in version 1.2 (isn't there [i]always another version in projects like these?) that you should feel freer about modifying the total shape more radically instead of just copying the original.

basically this is a street legal track car, I didn't want a stripped interior and I only wanted some essentials for driving, it isn't finished, your right, but the only thing that will be done to it is to be wrapped in vinyl so it matches the doors better than paint.

but I know the project isn't for everyone, I appreciate the comments,
here are some pics of how it will look until I take it out to be wrapped (winter...maybe)

Looks nice man, I was thinking about having the interior completely custom redone myself. How hard has it been with no experience?? Did you do the interior your self or have someone do it?

I did it all myself, I made a mess out of the garage and did all the work myself. I had no experience. I would never pay someone else to do it. they would charge so much money, my girlfriends dad does epoxy flooring and stuff so he supplied me with resin for free. I have probably $150-$200 into the whole thing. and I haven't received a single negative comment in person on it. maybe people are just being polite but pics dont do it justice. the interior looks super clean. very purpose built. the door panels I found on ebay for 50 bucks. seats were intown for 400 and the carpet was 200, I used all my old grey panels and painted them with krylon fusion gloss black. 25 bucks maybe. all in all my interior cost me less than 900 bucks. and I learnt how to f/g so it was very worth while.

Wow is all I can really say about this, the dash looks great and it looks like the rest of your interior is coming along really nicely. If you don't mind can I come by when its all since your a fellow calgarian. I gotta see just what I've got ahead of me when I feel like doing this to my FB haha.

for sure you can swing by, I'm not in town for a bit. and the steering wheel has to be tilted all the way up to see the gauges properly. the angle isn't bad. I guess it must look a lot worse because it looks just fine when your sitting in it. I will get some pics from my point of view for you fellas later.

On that note, I'm considering a possible trade for a stock black dash board, the fibreglass dash will be coming out this winter either to get wrapped in a vinyl or get traded out for a stocker, if anyone in calgary has a track car and they want to shave some weight and just run this you can let me know, if there isn't enough interest I'll just wrap it in vinyl and hold on to it.
