extreme carbon build up

ok,so i took my motor apart to inspect some things, and i found that my egr valve was clogged and so was one of the intake ports,if you have read my last post my car will not start at all.could this be one of the reasons why?i have everything off the block right now and am cleaning it all.someone told me to put some atf in my oil when i get it running, will this help clean it.the car has sat longer than what the sell told me it had. is there anything else i should clean out? and also should my intake be coated in black **** to.i thought this was just to suck air in??

Dont use ATF, period. If you want to try to clean out the carbon, use marvel mystery oil or seafoam or something like that, let it soak in the housings, turning the engine (by hand) every 4 or so hours. Let it sit for about 24 hours. Let the intakes soak in some purple power or something if you really feel the need to clean it.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Have you tried a compression test?

Intakes tend to get coated in a sticky black mess that I assume is oil and gas residue, which is of little consquence if it isn't thick, and will just redeposit in a few thousand kms anyway. The whistle sounds like you're describing compression leak-down , which should be a good sign.
