are you talking NA or turbo? as far as turbo cars go back pressure from the muffler the less the better.

and what type of head do you run as well
what do you mean by "head"

exhaust choices depend mainly upon the user, how loud do you want it, what kind of powerband and so on.

If you are more specific with your questions you will get better answers. Also you should try a search, as Im sure this has been discussed before.

I see in your profile that you have a T2. Like Ranzo said, with turbos the less backpressure the better. You turbo will thank you for it. If there is any backpressure in your setup, the most will be made by the turbo itself. Hey, that's how turbos work. Pressure against the turbine wheel and all. 2.5" should flow enough for most people. Just make sure it flows smoothly. Turbulent exhausts make backpressure and lose exhaust velocity. Overall, velocity is good. Get that exhaust out of there quickly. Larger diameter piping helps a lot, but if you gutted cats they will negate much of the rest of the exhaust. Gutted cats are bad. Trust me, do a search for posts created by me. You'll see the damage that happened.
