Exhaust question

My 86 gx has a stock twin exhuast, and I'm just wondering what the size of the pipes are pre-muffler. Both my mufflers are rusted through so I'm looking for new ones to replace them. I don't know what inlet size to look for so any info on that would be appreciated. Thanks.

i dont have an 86 gx..i have an 88 vert...i dunno if they are the same or not...but i beleive its a 2 inch inlet.....

2.5 pre cat and 2 inch all the way back

You should just get a custom exhaust system...i kept the stock piping before the cat...got a high flow cat and 2.5 all the way back with 2 high flow mufflers. Cost me only 500. Sounds Very loud and mean as hell.

Buy the Racing Beat cat-back system and you should be good and done. Don't skimp!

Ya, I would, but I'm pretty much broke. I'm thinking the fart cans off ebay should do the trick. I'm not looking for performance, just hate riding around knowing my mufflers can snap in half at any giving moment due to the rust.

i doubt they would snap in half. my friend's crx cat back was rusted as hell. we toss it around and it never broke or chip. you should get an electric exhaust cut out. sound gangsta on a rotary car.

If you don't want to spend much but want a quality set up, Corksport makes a pretty well priced system that is known to be loud but very well made.

Check them out at corksport.com
