exhaust problem?

Well I just made the biggest mistake with my rx. My girlfriend wanted to learn how to drive manual, and I've taught a couple people before, all went smoothly, but my girlfriend was just AWEFUL! It was shaking so freaking much that I think something came loose or fell apart, because after one shift, I start hearing a sound like my entire exhaust system fell off. When I'm in the car I can hear a bad exhaust sound comming from the passenger floorboard, and outside I can hear it comming from anywhere under the car. I can't see anything wrong with it, and I still have exhaust comming out of both mufflers, but I really don't know what to do. I know that most of my exhaust system has to be in pretty sad shape, when I replaced my mufflers the old ones were totally disintegrated inside. What could be the problem? Any ideas? And do you guys think I should keep driving it daily or wait till I get it fixed? I do have another car I can drive if thats the case, its just not as much fun.

Sounds like you blew an exhaust gasket. Very easy to fix. Just find the leak by listening with the car running.

any other ideas? and which exhaust gasket is it usually? I can't really tell exactly which one by listening/watching the car running, I just get an area where there's like 2 or 3 different gaskets.

Put your hand down there and feel around the joints for any air escaping... Be careful you dont burn yourself.

amen to that

But i tried putting my hand around the joints, all I could feel was heat, but I didn't put my hands all the way around it so that could be my problem, the car is just so freaking low. Oh well, maybe when I jack it up I'll be able to tell better, or maybe I'll just have to replace all the gaskets in the area? There's only what, like 3?

Yes. 3 exist on the stock exhaust I believe. I would just replace all the gaskets if they have not been replaced recently. It is better to do them all at once and know they are all done.

I have exhaust leaks like a mad man, but I am not too concerned with it at this point. I have to fix my oil cooler.

like i said. unless she knows how to drive a stick or can drive well enough to get in any car and drive it perfectly, than i would let one drive my car.

example. my brothers wife. shes a woman. yah yah yah. she used to drive a honda sivic stick. (ok.. good enough.) she then drove his modified integra when he still had it ( even better ). then he sold it and got a wrx and modified the hell out of it. she can drive it just as well with 350 hp under the hood. ( she won the right to drive my rx7 )

there you have it.
