Exhaust Problem

88 gxl

stock exhaust, except aftermarket dynomax catback

i have a leak somewhere, its been looked at and determind that its in the cat...it leaks at random times....it will come up through the shifter hole and just flood the car...today i left it sitting outside of subway for 5 mins, came back out, and exhaust smoke was rolling out from every direction of the car....

im going to get RB headers....

now here's the dilemma, it has to be inspected in march, and in Virginia a cat has to be present to pass inspection....

i guess i need the presilencer, i really dont want a ticket everytime i leave my house because of the noise, however i would like some level of noise...

but i need a cat to pass inspection...

has anyone been able to use the cat housing and put the presilencer in, to make it appear you have a cat?

any suggestions of the best way to solve this is appreciated.

Do you only have a visual inspection? If you have to pass a sniffer test, you wont pass without a cat. But if its only visual you can take that metal sheilding from around the cat and have someone tach weld it onto the presilencer. Unless the testers are really observant it should pass.

If you get the racing beat header plus a racing beat presilencer it would just take the place of the cat. The cat is relatively easy to swap, so just switch it at test day.

And I doubt a cop is going to lay on the floor to get a look at your cat.

if a cop was that out to get you, you'd get a ticket no matter what.
