exhaust leak from i dont know where

a while ago i asked if anyone knew why my car was leaking exhaust from the engine. at the time i didnt have a camera to take pics and show so i didnt get an answer. since then my car has died and the engine removed. it still bugs me so i decided to take some pictures and show what i was talking about. so as long as i can get the picture to attach, please look and give ur oppinion or info. the hole is circled in green. its obviously on the intermediate housing, on the same side as the exhaust ports. other than that i have no idea.

I have never seen that style hole on any rotary engine, ever, and i have taken apart my share. There is often a port near there, however it is a completely different shape.

I suggest you use jb-stick-weld to fill this hole, pack the material in there very well, this will get rid of your leak. This is what I use when I perform manifold swaps on engines that have the slot there, and the new manifold won't cover the hole. IT works fine in the long run.

On my 12AT that was the location of the passage from the ACV to the exhaust ports. I thought 13B's were the same.

I appear to have a leak from the same location on my '88 SE (pulled the exhaust manifold twice to find it).

Does anyone know what this port is for?

I always thought that was a port needed for a turbo exhaust sensor or something, I think I've seen it there also and I'm going to check my car for it (90 GXL). I also have a leak, just wondering if this is it.

Just found a pic showing a freeze plug in this port. Apparently this plug seals off a hole in the EGR coring within the center housing. I'm going to pick up a few metric freeze plugs tonight and try to find one that fits.
