Exhaust leak???

Exhaust leak???
Hey yall. I have another question about my new 87 TII.
I bought the car with what sounds like a bad exhaust leak but i cant find the leak. Ive put my hand around the downpipe and cat and didnt feel any exhaust and the gasket for the block and exhaust doesnt seem to be blown. I thought that was the problem for sure. I cant seem to pinpoint where the leak is. I am wondering if the lower intake would sound like an exhaust leak if it was leaking. The point of the intake thats closest to the block and firewall has black carbon build up on it.....this sound like it might be the problem? Anybody else have this problem? Also....the reason i was thinking it might be the intake is because the car is a dog from a start like its bogging real bad and the turbo doesnt boost very well from a start....when i get up to speed and full throttle it the turbo makes a woooooooooosh sound the entire time im on it.....but louder like letting air out of a ballon. This isnt normal is it?

on my 87 t2 it sounde dloud like an exhaust leak it turned out the actual exhaust manifold before the turbo, had a small crack in it. from whats ive heard that is somewhat common.
the intake leaking wont make any noise, a leaking intake would cause a vacume leak and symptoms would be a faint hissing noise, and poor idle or no idle and not making much boost.
my turbo was pretty loud too. i think thats normal
