exhaust leak
my dad just now told me that the guy who inspected my car said there was a hole in the exhaust but it wasnt enough to fail me (it was inspected like a month ago). is there anyway i can find out where the hole is easily, or do i just have to crawl under there and look? im betting its from rust, cause the exhaust tips have visible rust on them. is it gonna mess up my car? will it give me an excuse to buy something sweet?

Hmmm, is it really that hard to go under there? I do it for fun. Anyways I had a massive leak but it was from the manifold to the block so it was dead obvious where it was. you can try reving the car up and listening for the wierd weed wacker noise and looking under the car. I don't see any way fo you to find out where the leak is exactly without looking down there.

i just went out there and started the car, and as if this wasnt enough, white smoke came out. this has only happened to me once, when i left it sitting for a long time. i drove it last on sunday. after the smoke went away, i noticed a high pitched fast chirping sound, like when you blow through your straw in your drink, but high pitched. i dont know if thats the weedwacker sound your talking about. i also noticed some water in the ends of the exhaust tips, i washed my car a couple days ago, and havent run it since. maybe thats what was making the noise? i also looked under the car, and i couldnt see any holes (i didnt jack it up or anything).

put the car up on jackstands (lift if you have it), start the car, crawl under, cup your hands and run them about an inch away around all the pipes and especialy the joins, you will feel where its leaking
just dont touch it... its hot

If your going to do the work yourself, might want to spray some PB on the threads once you find the leak. I found a few applications a day or two before and most rusted nuts come off.
