Exhaust Idea!

OK. A friend of mine with a civic told me about a new exhaust setup he had on it. He had an exhaust shop plasma cut a hole into his header and weld a "Y" pipe onto it. He then ordered a custom electronic valve similar to a "blower" to either open or close the second pipe with the control. What this allowed him to do is open up the exhaust to straight pipe, or close it down for city driving at his leisure. My question is how well do you think this setup would work for a rotary engine?

umm, yeah thats not new. People have been doing that since the 70's. But it should work fairly well, probably help with fuel economy, cuz thats soooooooooo important nowadays.

We installed one on a buddys' RX-7. Formally known as a cut-out, the system has a good idea behind it: Go fast with a straight exhaust, yet be quiet when you need to.

Biggest problem we experienced: The cut-out not sealing very well.
