Remove daspots, and the anti afterburn valve ( like disconnect the solenoid) and maybe dissconect the port air solenoid, that will help.

umm you have to induce the flames.

Here is what you do. You rev the car up several times to 5-6k rpms then take it to the buzzer that should get you some large flames.

Troll alert!

Anyways, you could always do the spark plug just before the tip of the muffler with a switch in the cabin if you want flames on demand. Do a search and you'll find a writeup on how to do it.

the dashpot makes the throttle come down more slowly, correct. But if you rev it up really high it's dumping fuel into the engine, then if the throttle snaps closed (with no dashpots) it cuts off the air, forcing a rich condition, and that's why it flames.

Seems from what i've seen that RX-7's flame more easily than most cars, do rotaries flame more easily in general than other engines?

Why do people join forums just to make fun of stuff? If I was going to go join the supra forums, it would be so i could ask questions, etc, not to go on and make fun of the supra and make up kill stories involving me and a supra (I see a lot of those "kill" stories on here).

???

I didn't join this forum to make fun of anything, I joined to ask questions and to learn stuff about the RX-7. I own a TII and have learned a ton from this board.

I just think it would be funny to see an import car with flames. It seems like more of a muscle car thing to me.

You obviously never watched F&TF then.
I believe they also used the sparkplug in the muffler trick to do the flames in the movie.

If you're gonna start this whole shooting flames thing, the biggest drawback is wasting more fuel as you're try to shoot them. If you don't have emmissions in your area, then just take your cat right out and replace it with a test pipe which should open up the flow more than a gutted cat.

Before you raise the BS flag, I have video of mine shooting 4 foot flames on stock ports with header and open pipes. I'll be posting that video in a few weeks when my summer classes start.

So... Who wants to bet me some pink slips or insanely large amounts of money that 4' flames aren't possible? I'll take all bets no matter how big. (I'll gladly take your money on this one)

Ok the way I was tought to shoot flames:
1 make sure the car is warmed-up(never rev a cold engine)
2 start reving it to 5000 or 6500 rpms letting it drop to about 4k rpms before reving it again
3 after doing step 2 for about 4-6 revs rev it all the way to 7k rpms and let of after the buzzer.

This should provide many small flames and two very large 2+ ft splitsecond flames(impressive ones )

note that reving an engine like this could kill it so your on your own.

You can also shoot flames on shifts sometimes. I find my car lets off some smaller flames if I hit redline and then shift, get some pops with a bit of orange.

if your motor cant take a couple 5k revs and a redline, then you should just go home

Are you talking like flame graphics on the side of a car? Because we're talking about literal flames (see above posts).. ^_^
