Exhaust

I was wondering if this exhaust would be any good for a 91 na. The reason I ask this is because I dont have too much money to spend and this aftermarket exhaust is only $229. So please let me know what you think, and please let me know of any other decent exhaust around this price. Thanks

I have heard a few bad things about Monza. However, I must add this. Exhaust (or any power mod) is not the place to go cheap. Rotaries run hotter than piston engines, and can crack or warp traditional exhaust setups. I only trust Racing Beat products myself, and have personally used and seen them used on my N/As. But, it is a bit pricey. www.racingbeat.com

Like rico said, I haven't heard anything really good about Monza exhaust. If your looking to gain power and not blow the bank. I would go with Racingbeat's cat replacement pipe and presilencer ($290). The great thing about racingbeat is you spend a little more now, but won't have to replace it in a year or two.

I Agree with this concept, But its not "a little" its alot. The part you speek of seems like a good call, but not a answer to a muffler replacement.

I thought the Monza was the same exact thing as the pacesetter...

Both the Monza ans the Pacesetter have a dual tip. The 91 n/a has those little cutouts in the rear bumper , so the dual tip is not a good fit, plus I have not heard a single good thing about either. I suggest custom exhaust.

All I did (when my tailpipes fall off the stock exhaust...and the whole y pipe fromthe cats back was a big rust flake) was put a flowmaster muffler before the y pipe. It sounds very good. Not stupid loud, but you can hear me coming.

i'll say the same thing to you, as i tell everyone else who wants exhaust on Gen II ...

if sound is an issue for you, go with RB exhaust ... they're quiet and in the 14 years that i've been screwing around with Mazda rotaries, i've yet to see one get destroyed. it costs more, yes, but your money is well spent ... the ONLY reason you'd have to change it is if you get some serious mods and start to run INSANE power levels (and if money for exhaust is a problem, then you're probably not there yet)

if sound is NOT an issue for you, then get the headers from RB and then get some good (that means NO FIBERGLASS) presilencers and mufflers (like Dynomax, Magnaflow, etc.) ... and have the exhaust custom-welded. they will be noticeably louder than the RB, but they shouldn't be unbearable.

do yourself a favor though, just forget that you've ever seen or heard of the Monza/PaceSetter crap!!!!!

I've been running Monza exhausts on my Austin Healeys for 10+ years and have had no problems with them. Only issue I have with the Rx7 system and why I wouldn't put it on my 89 Ragtp is the twin tips on each muffler...
