exhaust

It wouldn't do any harm if i took off part of the exhaust just for a test run to see if there is any power increase? I've know that the rotary engine runs hot, so i don't want anything to melt while i'm topping it out. I'll be taking it off pretty close to the headers. What do u think? Thanks

You want to at least have header/manifold on. I'm sure you've heard of people running "open header"... the reason isn't that they were too lazy or couldn't get the header off, but in the case of a piston engine, when a hot engine draws outside air in through the exhaust during the cycle it damages the hot valves. I'm sure some sort of similar wear would exist on a rotary, and though the situation would be more difficult to achieve on a rotary due to the frequency of the cycle, but some exhaust gasses are drawn back in to put some of the unburned fuel into the intake charge, and some piston engines are capable of drawing cold air in and damaging themselves even WITH the headers on holding their volume of hot air.

power increase won't be significant. All you'll get is aLOT of racket.too much!!! plus due to no back pressure you'll actually lose power. The collector end of the header on my '86 got loose one morning and it was intolerable.

I would just wait until you get the catback, then put everything on at once.

Good choice!!

I did tested my 7 without any exaust ( just out of curiousity ) before I installed my system ( loud as hell ) and know my 3yr old boy is afraid of my car.

Right know I have my exaust done but still, I soon as I get in the car he runs away like crazy and starts crying.
