Which exhaust?
Hey, I am looking to buy an exhaust but not sure which one. I want to keep the dual style but want something that is free-flowing and gives a good hp increase. I was looking at the RP Catback exhaust, but it seems a little small. Does anyone have any opinions on this exhaust on a N/A? Or would it be better to get custom piping and then buy two mufflers? I am looking for something that is under $500, if possible.

Well, how do I go about getting true duals? Can I get it done with custom piping or do I have to buy an actual true dual exhaust? I dunno though, dont really like the way true dual sounds. I want a nice, deep bass sound.

For a more "stock-looking" and not too loud exhaust you can't beat RB. For highest-flowing possible, there are better mufflers. But if noise is any concern at all, I wouldn't get anything BUT RB.

YES I will say it
The Uncollected exhaust gives you over all performance instead of a great peak and nothing else. The greatest peak HP will be attained with a singe exhaust but that don't matter if there is only good HP at a certain point and the rest is not that good. I have good tourqe great acceleration a great tone and not LOUD unless you drive like a maniac all day.

Well ok first I would just buy the Mazdatrix setup for ease of installation. Some people have custom built their own Dual BUT the thing is that you might not get all the same performance that the MT setup gives you. I LOVE the sound. If you think of it it is the same old rotary sound but in sterephonic sound It is quiet enough not to have to shout at the top of you lungs while your going 65MPH while Cruising. The exhasut note is beautiful if you ask me. It is nice and deep untill you REALLY get ON it. Like ate 4500 RPM it gets LOUD but not when you are driving.

If cost is an issue, the kit from Mazdatrix has four pieces of mandrel bent thick wall tube and two flanges. I had to enlarge the picture of the RB header to see where to mark the pieces for cutting and assembly. (The RB assembled and plated header is worth the extra $100, but I was a little short of cash.)
My setup is all cheap stuff – all welded up ($300 parts & labor) at my local muffler shop.
Dual header kit - (Mazdatrix w/RB flange)
dual $20 "turbo pack" presilencers
dual $20 glass pack bomb mufflers (stock tips welded on)
- And yes the bombs hold up OK out on the end of the pipes where the exhaust is cooler. It's not too loud cruising at light throttle. It talks to you at WOT.
You will want pre-silencers (or cats) in the middle. Without the silencers, the sharp pops of the peripheral exhaust ports sounds like an airplane propeller at takeoff, and they will blow out the mufflers..
My setup has evolved over the past 2 years.
1) Stock manifold through straight pipes to bombs. – LOUD - a little power gain.
2) Header to straight pipes to bombs. – WAY too LOUD! – some power gain.
3) Header to single 3” silencer to bombs. – nice tone – nice power gain.
4) Header to dual silencers to bombs. Nice stereo tone – nice power gain with a little more low end.
Click on the link in my sig to hear idle tone with a throttle blip.
