Cool Exh. to loud? Need a good 4in muffler?

just finished insatalling a bunch of new goodys on the rx-7 and am currently running an open 4inch downpipe...

Well three of the neighbors have called complaining and im worried about disturbing the peice charges. So i need to find a nice high flow muffler with a 4in inlet... that dosent sound ricy...

I plan on posting picutes when i am totally done
Its gone under alot of change in the past couple of months so im pretty excited...

thanks for the help

I run a complete 4 inch turbo back exhaust. We built it from 2 magna flows. They give the car a scary italian super car sound. This exhaust system was so easy to build because once you clear the down pipe its almost a straight pipe back. Search under my posts for pics of my system and parts list/suppliers

Summit Racing carries a couple of them.

One is the Dynatech one.
We run this one on our 20B.
For ~$100 it's a cheap option.

Borla makes an XR-1 model, but it's getting closer to $200.

Almost everything else is a round canister type with very little sound suppression.
We used a DynoMax Bullet Race one, and it didn't do squat.

Don't use Flowmasters...

They don't usually stay together.
The hotter rotary exhaust will sometimes break the welds on the internal baffles.
If you get the Flowmaster to stay together, it sounds like crap.

I would go with the Dynatech, but cut out that blasted center "split" thingy, cause it's just a restriction, if we're talking about a budget.

If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to go Borla.

Just make sure you get a oval shape exhaust to hang where your cat used to be and either a oval or round exhaust at the end. You can also deepen the sound of the exhaust more if you wrap the pipes with header wrap. Actually there is so much room under our cars later down the road I might do a 5 inch dp to a 5 inch mid pipe and connect it to my existing 4 inch. There are some supra guys here running 5 and 6 inch down pipes and claiming full boost 1k sooner.
