Ethanol

Is it safe to run ethanol thru stock rubber fuel lines, etc. I just picked up a gallon of denatured alcohol from Home Depot to help pass smog. Also how much do I use? 1 gal of gas to 1 gal of ethanol, or straight ethanol? I exceeded the limit by 30ppm at idle. Thanks.

I failed emissions running alcohol today =( Actually it was really sad because i just barely failed, so the mixture of gas to ethanol should be more like 1 gallon to a little less than 1/4 because i had a little more than a 1/4 tank and i passed everything except hc which i didnt even fail that badly. As far as NOX and CO are concerned i passed with flying colors it droppped them about 75% each !! So im going back to the hd and buying another gallon and im going to add just about a 1/4 gallon and im gonna run her again tomorrow. The car itself started kinda sloppy (sounded like the starter was turning relally slow) but after that it ran greaet, not even a lumpy idle. It felt like I had lost a bit of power but it was hardly even noticable. So i guess ill just post more tomorrow : )

EDIT
Exact numbers for ya:
HC-
Reading: 1.6613
Limit: .800

CO-
Reading: 9.4777 (Down from 21)
Limit:15.00

NOx-
Reading: .465 (down from 1.2)
Limit: 2.00
