ERRGGHH...pissing me off...please!!

Alright, well we got the engine in about two weeks ago and we still cant get it to start. Wasnt getting any fuel for a while, so I changed fuel pressure regulator and put in a new ECU just incase. It started right up!! Had to rev it to keep it running, but she stayed running!! I WAS SOO EXCITED. Finally, I thought. So I turned it off to try again and now...it just cranks and cranks and cranks..wont start...not flooded because I waited like three hours and still nothing..Someone please help!!

OK, maybe it was just flooded, because I went back out and it started up..Only thing that worries me is that there is MASSIVE amounts of white smoke, I only kept it going for about 20 seconds because when I say massive, I mean you couldnt even see through the smoke, and its just continuous white smoke..it looked like my front yard was on fire..please if anyone knows

Uh ohs. Lots of white smoke = blown coolant ring?

When you say "got the engine in" did you rebuild it, engine swap, or have someone else rebuild? Maybe it has a pinched coolant ring. Just a thought...

I got the car without an engine, got an engine with 60k on it, supposedly ran PERFECT, good compression, no smoke..What do you mean a pinched coolant ring?

Well I got the car without an engine and got one with 60k miles on it. Supposedly it ran PERFECT, good compression, no smoke whatsoever. What do you mean by pinched coolant ring?

When I refer to pinched coolant ring I have read of people when they rebuild their engine, they inadvertently pinch a coolant ring when they are sandwiching the housings back together.

However, sounds to me like you have blown coolant ring and it is leaking water/antifreeze into the combustion chamber. You can tell this by running the car a bit, opening the radiator cap and seeing if there are a lot of little air bubbles that float up. Obviously, do not run the car for long when you do this because coolant is hot.

Would that cause THAT much smoke though? I mean there is soo much smoke that I could never even imagine a car smoking this much.

yup, coolant seeping into the combustion chamber could cause that much smoke.

Or someone put oil in the combustion chambers when they shipped it.... There's a number of possibilities. First, fix your vac leaks, cuz if you can't hold an idle, there's almost always a vac leak. Oh, then rent a coolant pressure tester from a local auto store

The coolant pressure tester is one way for sure to see if you have a coolant leak.

Alright..update..well something wierd is happening now. I thought that maybe my BAC was acting up so I blocked off the two coolant hoses that go to it, car started right up with NO smoke at all. Kept it running for about a minute and then massive smoke again..No smoke at first, then smoke. WTF? I am starting to get tired of this!

Mine does the same thing, after a hard 15 run, it'll stop smoking. It really sucks, but it does a great job of pissing off the neighbors!

Just let it run for about 20 minutes and hopefully it will stop smoking. If it dosn't clear up, then u deffinently got problems. Make sure u keep an eye on all your guages though. Is this a turbo or a non turbo? I just got the motor in my turbo, it smoked real bad too. Turned out my coolant line from the turbo to the manifold was leaking right on to the turbo causing it to smoke white. Good luck
