erratic idle from cold, and juddering in 1st gear

hello!

I'm new to the RX-7 fold - got a 1988 vert about amonth ago and love it to bits.

I got it checked out and had a few things done to it, including new thermo wax and spark plugs.

However, sometimes when I start from cold, the idle ether jumps to about 3,000 RPM for ~10 seconds, or sometimes it does not even make it to 1,000 and I have to use the gas peddle to stop it stalling and flooding.

Also, (and this has only happened twice, but when it did it, it did it all day) moving off from a stop in 1st gear, at between 2k & 3k rpm the car was juddering and shaking, (sort of like it was just about to stall)

any ideas? thanks very much indeed in advance for any suggestions.

andy

P.S. I gather that nosy steering when cold at slow speeds is normal (rubber thingies) for older RX7s, but it does annoy me - est. for parts and labor to fix?

I had the exact same problem when starting the car cold. Now I have to give it gas when I start it to keep it from dying. I only have to give it gas for the first 15 seconds or so, then it idles fine. But no 3000 RPM, to 1500 during warm up.
