eratic idle
hello im new to rx7s but I have been searching and I found a very clean 89 red turbo it has a few miles 140k and seems to drive great except for the first 5 minutes the idle jumps up and down from 1000 to 3500 is this an easy fix? just normal? or should I keep looking I would like to get at least 50k more on the engine

Pretty easy fix. Just need to adjust your TPS most likely. Could be a bad TPS...which is a 125 dollar part if I remember right. More than likely its just out of adjustment.
50k might be a lot to ask from a car with 140k already on it. That depends, as always, on how well the person before you had maintained it. But, grats on the car and welcome to our world. Post some pics!
EDIT:
Forgot the link for adjusting the TPS: http://www.rotorwiki.com/index.php/TPS_Adjustment

Well, unlike piston engines, rotaries don't like to be babied. They like to be well-maintained and driven rough... If a car was grannied around; driven under 4krpms, there's a good chance its carbon built pretty bad.
