Unhappy Engine won't start

All the belts turn but engine won't start. I smell gas when I gas it. I replaced the battery and checked all the vaccum hoses and couldn't find any cracks or leaks what's up with my engine? It kind of wants to start but can't. It like revs up to about 100rpm (not 1000) and drops to zero and kicks up again really quickly... Help please!

I mean I don't smell gas if I don't gas it. If I gas it I smell gas so I know my fuel filter and fuel pump are working. and I have exhaust coming out too (although its weak) so there that means there is combustion right? so I don't get why my engine won't start..

Not yet. I don't know how and I don't have the compression test tool. I know the engine was going to go out but I want it to at least run so I can take it to the military base so when I get my T2 I can swap. I just don't want to pay the bitch *** towing hella expensive since it's about a 25-30 minute drive.

Have you tried the simple maintenance? If your fuel filter is clogged, it won't deliver fuel. Perhaps try checking fuel lines as well...

When you start it hold your foot on the all the way to the floor and turn it over for a bit and it should start, if not then your plugs are most likely fouled

So then change the spark plugs

starter fluid into the air intake same thing happened to mine tell me if it works you going to have to spray a lot and your going to have to crank it a lot so your battery might die but keep trying it for a while because thats what happened to mine and after I used starter fluid it started slowly and then it poured out the smoke but it has started ever since just fine.

try pulling out all the spark plugs! and pulling the the ing fuse under the hood pedal the gas while turning the motor over! once all the gas is push out of the spark plug holes i would get new plugs put them in put the ing fuse back in! if it doesnt start still then try the fuel pump realy under the dash pull it out and while turning over the motor plug it in and it should start! its going to smoke like crazy for a few but when it stops you should be good!

I already tried the deflooding method but I can't check the sparks yet since I don't have a deep socket -_- I'll check them and see what's up.

Just pull the plug boot and test for spark there. It won't tell you if your plugs are all fouled BUT it will tell you if your coils/plugs are OK.

are all the sensors hooked up like the afm and temp sensors?
also you can do a compression check, but you need to pull the plugs for that so if you dont have a spark plug socket yet go and get one and a compression tester while you are at it

Question - When did this happen/ after a long drive or just wouldn't start one morning? Did you start the vehicle for 10 seconds then kill it?

IF the motor is flooded it will give false comp readings!

I didn't ignore it. It just sounded kinda dangerous since I'm at 220k miles I think my engine might be blow since the belts turn but it doesn't really crank. I'm replacing the spark plugs right now but that **** is taking a while since I don't have the right tools. Once I do that I'll update you all. I'll try that starter fluid if my car doesn't start after I replace the spark plugs. Just been hella busy with school and ordering my jdm T2 swap
