Engine Wiring Harness

here's an idea... since the harness on RX-7s are becoming brittle from heat and other things... why not construct a brand new one?? might sound easy saying it... but i mean... it's a thought... nothing wrong with thinking right??

so... is it possible?? just a bunch of color-coded wires and some connectors?? (maybe a few other parts?)

i'm not a pro on cars or anything, not even close to be considered a newbie

Last time I priced out custom color coded wires, it was $50 per 500' spool per color combination.&nbsp Just estimating how many different two-color combinations on the harness, that's at least $1000 in wires.

If you're going with a single color, that's a different story...

It certainly is feasible..even easier if you've gotten rid of your emissions.. at that point you would need new lines for (Let's see how much I can remember):

2 primary injectors (4 wires)
2 secondary injector (4 wires)
coolant guage line (1 wire)
Coolant temp switch top of water filler neck, 1 wire)
Coolant thermo sensor (2 wires)
Bac Valve (2 wires)
TPS (3 wires)
Knock sensor (1 wire)
Air temp sensor (1 wire)
AFM plug (I can't remember the # of wires)
Boost sensor (3 or 4 wire.. )
Idle mixture adjustment (3 wires I belive)
Wiper motor (3 wires)
Cruise control (3 wires)

I belive that covers everything the main engine harness connects to that is needed (Again, this is assumeing you've removed all your emissions + solenoids)
Doesn't seem like alot when you break it right down, does it?
ANyone wanna point out if I missed anything?
(Gawd I must be bored )

if color-coded is too much then maybe just same color but have your own diagram of wires and connectors?? and even label the wires at the end

I don't think the wire part would be a big problem. More like the end connectors. A lot of mine were cracking and or corroded. Finding those new may be a trick.
