Engine Trouble

I have a 91 convertible, and am having quite a bit of trouble with it as far as the engine goes.

#1 I am leaking tons of oil and am thinking about just removing the OMP and blocking it to run 2 stroke.

#2 The major issue, could be caused by the OMP. When I get on it, the motor seems to stutter and have little power, yet other times it goes smoothly. Haven't quite figured this out, other than maybe the plugs are halfway fouled do to the oil problem.

I'm at my wits end, and can use any help I can get.

I'm getting a new engine from someone doing a swap, but I wont have it for another month or so.
Please add your input......quickly, I don't want the vert to die.

What do you mean by leaking tons of oil? Out of the OMP to the ground? [there's a rubber o-ring and some little copper crush washers that keep everything sealed on the OMP] If you think it's injecting too much.. Is the engine light on? [assuming it works] I think limp mode might do that [it also dumps tons of fuel into the engine, so it would probably run terribly]

Where does the engine stutter? Around 3800-4k? If so, that's probably your ECU ground [it's on top of the engine block where a bolt goes through the rats nest frame into the rear rotor housing]. If that ground is bad, your secondary injectors will either not work, or work intermittently

1. if its burning oil, taking out the metering pump won't fix it.

2. if the OMP goes bad the check engine light will be on too. if the check engine light isn't on there are a bunch of things that can cause problems like that, bad plug wires, dirty fuel filters, plugged exhausts, stuck/sticking 6 ports/VDI valves, etc etc

when doing a OMP delete on the S5 model (1989-1991). You must have the pump connected to the harness or else the ECU wont see the signal and put the car in limp mode. When doing mines I tie strapped the pump on my intake pipe and left it connected. Another way around it is get your ecu chipped by Rtek or go Stand Alone .

If that didn't answer your question, get a new used OMP because if the ECU doesn't see a signal coming from the OMP, It will put it self in limp mode (safe mode) causing your car not pass a certain RPM and that probably the reason why your car shutter.

It just seems that when I press on the pedal, it has no resistance to it, like no power, even if I floor it, it just goes put put put between 3000 and 4000 or so. I'm hoping its the ground, that would be an easy fix as far as the one problem goes. Does anyone know of a good replacement ground wire set, perhaps?

It's not that the wire goes bad, but that it gets corroded at the end where it bolts down. Pull off the intake, sandpaper/wirewheel the ground loop, toss on a little dielectric [bulb] grease if you have it and put it back together.

That is Limp mode..probably due to the OMP starting to crap out.
