Engine and Tranmission Problems?

I'm not quite sure what's going on here. If anyone can throw some insight into the following please do.

I was driving my '88 rx-7 TII and depressed the clutch to shift from 2nd gear to 3rd and as I depressed the clutch the revs shot up to 6000. I quickly got off the road in neutral and into a parking lot. The rpms eventually lowered to a usual 1100 rpm idle, but as soon as I depressed the gas pedal a bit, once again the rpms shot up to 6000. I checked the throttle cable and opening the throttle body from the engine the rpms rose and dropped normally. I'm not sure where to look on this one? Any ideas?

Secondly I just removed my car from storage the day previous. Everything seemed fine. As I was driving around a bit today the transmission got progressively worse. At this point I'm having to forcefully shift 2nd and 3rd. I ran Motul oil in the transmission all last season. In october I was out on th road course and the shifts were just pefect. What the heck happend here? There was no sign of any oil leaks on the garage floor where the car was stored. Once again I'm just scratching my head?

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
