engine swap need input fast.

i'm interested in purchasing a fc, that needs a swap, and the dude selling it is also selling it with the new motor. is there any special tools i will need to do the swap?
i was told from my shop teacher about a year ago when i initially got interested in wankels that i would need like a 3" socket or some ****.
but he's also not the most knowledgable person in the wankel field. if you could get back to me soon i'd highly appreciate it.
the sooner i can get this answered the better.

it depends on a lot of things.... first of all if the new motor works that they guy is selling, and if it is the same type. Basics you will need an engine lift and metric socket set. I think what your teacher is referring to is the 2 and 1/8 inch socket for the flywheel nut, which is a pain to get off.

thanks man,
the new motor is allegedly working. it's supposedly a rebuilt motor.
that's about as deep of a conversation i had with the dude. and i'm pretty sure it's also an s4, which is what is currently in the car it's a 1988.

Grab yourself a Haynes manual; I think it has an engine removal overview in it. Take lots of pictures for reference later, and label hoses and plugs.

Some tips:
1) Remove the hood and radiator
2) If the car has AC, unbolt it from the P/S rack and leave it in the car. Pull the engine without it.
3) Place a 2x4 underneath the transmission bell housing once the engine has been disconnected.
