engine swap ecu

i'm swapping a complete engine and manual trans from 88 convertible n/a into an 87 base that was an n/a automatic. i have all the neccesary stuff but plan on using the 87 ecu to run the car. does anyone know about compatabilty problems . i assume they will be very close being just one year but if i have troubles starting i don't want to beat my head against the wall for days and find out it was the ecu. vise versa i don't want to buy one i don't need or suspect it to be a problem when it's a vaccum line or something stupid. basically, i anticipate problems because that's the story of my life. i haven't even started yet and i anticipate horrendous disasterous results! anyway, if anyone knows any info or maybe just give me a motivational speech that would be nice too. he he!

only use the 'vert ECU if you use the Vert engine harness.

If you are using the 87's engine harness, then use the 87's ECU
