engine swap
engine swap
so i bought my rx7 with the intention of swapping the engine out for a ported one, which i already have. but there are a few issues
i have a n/a 89, and this is a engine from a n/a 86
it's carburated
and from what i was told get 200+ hp
i was curious what i need to do to get this engine to work in my car

youll need the s4 ecu
s4 waterpump
s4 front cover
s4 throttle body
new drive shaft
lots of wire splicing
bypass your solenoid resistor
s4 OMP pump
omp pump linkage to TB
its a good amount of work

um, wow... I'm guessing that engine will not put out much more power than your engine. It's 15 less than yours to start out with, and unless the port is fairly aggressive (something beyond a street port), you're not gonna make enough power to justify the swap.
sell the carb setup and get a nice exhaust system and/or suspension. swap your s5 front cover (functioning oil metering pump w/o having to use premix and a chip) to the s4 engine and use all your stock s5 setup then call it a day.
