Question Engine Swap...

okay I have my RX, and my new engine. About how long would it take me on a constant work power basis to swap the old engine with the new. considering the old one supposedly dont work.

You can usually do a swap over the weekend providing you make sure you have everything you need, and sometimes thing you might need...i.e. if something breaks or cracks during the process.

okay so what would you recommend I needbefore I start??? I got basically al the tools but any special parts??? and if I plan on tossing an upgraded turbo on it what would be the best one to toss on with the stock ecu???

The only real special tool that helps is a cherry picker. The rest is just some basic rachets, sockets, and some wrenches. Get a breaker bar as stated before and you should be fine. It's a pretty easy job to do. If you just unplug the wiring from the ecu you'll save a lot of time when you pull the motor cause tou won't be unplugging all the lil connections and having to take off the intake manifolds which cover them.

I swaped my engine out and in in one day with the help of my buddie we just lifted the old short block out and sat the new one in wasnt hard at all just make sure you connect everything right the first time like the o2 sensor or the EMH ground..lol have fun though!

where can I find the wiring chart for the engine so I know I wont Screw up???? just to be safe

FSM has the wiring chart. Links are in the FAQ at the top of the page.

Dont worry, if you forget to unplug something, you will find out about it when you go to yank the motor!

I didn't know you could leave the intake manifolds on. 0_0

AWESOME thanx guys this will be alot of help and as far as I've heard the rx7 has some supposed electrical problems I should know about???? O_o I heard this from a mechanic in town but I dont trust anyone that doesn't own the car. Any input on this???
